Daniel McGowan is one of the senior intelligence personnel for House Tindal. A very good man to have in your corner…but you have to earn the right to trust him.
Thorondor “Ian” Caladharas is the 18 year old heir to one of the first of the Merchant Houses. An intelligent, independent teenager; Ian has a tendency towards irreverence and and frustration. In all honesty, he doesn’t care what his grandfather says he is heir to, he just wants to have a normal life. Or at least as normal a one as possible. (As my skills improved I made some revamps to this characters appearance to reflect aging and such as well. The top picture is how he is currently modeled. )
Julia Wells, significant other of Ian Caladharas. Julia co runs the Wells Hotel in Erech’s Clocktower District. For those people who have rpg’d in this world: The Wells Hotel is now known as Cytheron’s. Julia and Ian tied the knot in the City of Greyrest in the Crossing Territories.
I mean, that’s probably Miko’s research agenda right now:
1) Find it.
2) Contain it.
3) Kill it slowly and painfully, because Miko is really quite irked at this situation and would happily spend quite a bit of time with the person responsible explaining in excruciating detail why it was not a good idea to annoy her.
I think this is a case where professionalism and personal satisfaction part ways. Kill it, trap its ephemeral part in a ghost trap and throw it into the planet’s star, assuming your can’t build a warp-driven starship to take it straight to a black hole.
Got a question, unrelated to today’s comic but I have been wondering about it for awhile. Miko has a dark band on her forehead, just under her hairline. Is this an artifact of the new Miko template/model/whatever-it’s-called? Or is this real (maybe an effect of the sentience virus)?
I first noticed this in comic #2994/2015-03-12.
What you are seeing is a shadow line. Miko’s hair was originally made for the Victoria 3 model, and she is currently built on the Victoria 4 model. With scaling and sizing, I can get her hair to match the shape of the models skull with about 99% accuracy. The only piece that isn’t working is a tiny bit of transparency mapping that is right at the front of her hairline, and casts a very slight shadow. In real world terms, it would be like the very front of her hairline was a 1/4 centimeter above her scalp in just that one location. I’ve tried solutions, but her head is custom shaped just to match her original appearance as close as possible and it causes issues. One possible solution would be to turn off the object (her hair) being able to cast shadows…but her hair is all one object, and it would cause her hair not to cast shadows on any other object.
In the end, I just put up with it because that’s Miko’s hairstyle and I haven’t felt like going through the hours and hours it would take to find something I can twist and scale enough to get to of the 1/4 centimeter.
OK. Thanks for the detail, it gives me a better idea of how you make the comic (I’ve never worked with 3D modeling software, just 2D CAD stuff). I can stop wondering what the band means.
I’m wondering if putting the host body into cryostasis can keep the “ghost” from leaving the host. If the host’s body has to die to free Dehane’s mind then that’s a possibility but if it can leave the host body at any time, then finding a way to contain the bastard is going to take some reality manipulation via Gage and the Towers or whichever Tower is closest to the current Host.
