Due to family medical issues, Requiem is on indefinite hiatus.
An elderly family member of ours took a bad fall on Labor Day night, and we’ve been dealing with the aftermath ever since. Hopefully, things will get sorted out, but as of right now, doing a daily comic is not something my schedule can allow.
Sorry to have this happen, but as everyone knows, real life comes first….and at least we don’t have too many running storylines on the backburner.
Denise Callahan is the chairman of the Northern Separatists Movements, and a political colleague of Olivia Wells. Dies at the hands of Targeter in a showdown at the Wells Hotel after The Dweller revealed her vulnerability to House Caladharas forces.
This lady (who chooses to remain nameless) is professional assassin who hails from the city of Naglorond. She does most of her work for private citizens since the end of the House Wars, where she was responsible for the deaths of a number of House personnel.
The handle she is currently using is “Targeter” All that is known about her so far is that she was a child prostitute in Naglorond who killed her way out of the business , and decided to never put her fate in the hands of another ever again.
An absolutely great comic! But, you know, you’ve never really shown Targeters’ nasty side before. Definitely not nice – but then Denise isn’t a terribly sympathetic victim. Hmmm. Two nasty people having at each other.
I read once (to paraphrase Pratchett) that a bad person will usually wait to pull the trigger and gloat, enjoying the power. A good person just shoots and gets it over with. Two bad people here. Of course, I like Targeter which just goes to show how good my judgment is.
@Ken, I kinda prefer to think of Targeter right now as someone who has had a very bad day so far. But in all seriousness though, Targeter has a temper about some things, and we’ll be getting to see a little more of that on Monday.
@Count Thalim, I was kinda thinking that using the cards as the gallery art would have been too much, but then I figured that since I was gonna shoot them up anyway, I could let it slide
If anyone has earned some gloating privileges, it’s Targeter. I see her as a basically well-motivated but extremely pragmatic person. Being human, she has a darker side but tries not to let it rule her.
An extremely fine line to walk as a mercenary. For the most part, I think she’s succeeded. Right now the dark side is having a Girls’ Night Out… be interesting to see how far it goes.
What Targeter has now is not showing her brains, she should have killed Denise immediately, not gloated she has also killed the powers of those on her side and they may need theirs soon.
@Dragonrider, Not neccessarily. After all the Dweller said that not all of them are vulnerable to the same thing that the Bellisarius people are. And the Threllichock were transforomed by the same thing that the people on Targeters side were. And possibly Targeter as well.
But no she isn’t gloating….if things work the way she thinks they are going to, THEN she’ll gloat.
On a personal level, she was more than a little bit suprised actually as well. That’s why she didn’t just kill Denise out of hand. She kinda got startled (which we will hear more about in a few days) She didn’t expect the glass thing to work at all.
In one sense, Targeter was taking a huge chance. Mercenaries – and anyone who’s ever been in the military – know that untested tactics and equipment can get ya killed.
On the other hand, in certain types of situations, if it’s stupid and it works, it ain’t stupid. Of course, you might not figure that out until the After Action Reports… if you happen to live to endure the AAR. i.e. No matter how good or experienced you are, or well-trained and equipped, no matter that you accomplished the mission, or that all the bad guys died and all of the good guys lived, AAR’s can show you where you made the stupidist mistakes imaginable…
On the other hand, there was no way to test that trick that wouldn’t have given away to Enana that they had it, and that might have given her enough of a shock to convince her to run, or at least take precautions…

Ken
You don’t notice immediately but it kind of creeps up on you.
It’s nice.

Kick-ass comic, definitely.
@wright, Thanks….the cool thing about Targeter is that she actually is based off of a real person that I know (as was Siobhain)
And I love the “dark side having a Girls’ Night out” comment

Sneaky, I like that.
