“Too much ammunition tends to be a self correcting problem” I recall a First Sergeant that beat that into our heads with the butt of an M1. Also when ask how much ammunition to plan on carrying he always said, “Enough to overrun your enemy and to hold his position when he gets pissed off and tries to take it back.”
