Blindness and Revenge, Part 1
And…we’re back.
It’s been a fun last couple of weeks, let me tell you.
The timeline:
Over the last month, I’ve had a family member who was suffering from a severe cold/flu and I ended up getting influenza from him. I’ve spent most of the last few weeks down with it until this last week or so. And no, it wasn’t this low rent Captain Trips that’s been sweeping the world. It was the actual flu (judging by how many times I blew my nose and how much junk I coughed up in the process) 🙁
Anyway, I get off work on 3/13, come home with a bunch of cold medicine, and get settled in to nurse myself back to health over the weekend…and the entire world goes fucking nuts.
Right now, I’m up to 90% again. Still got a little sinus congestion going, and the attendant coughing that comes with it occasionally…but overall I’m good. Due to my day gig, I’m actually considered an essential employee in my state, so I’ve been at work and on the road going from job site to construction site. The world has gotten real goddamn surreal in my neck of the woods.
But I’m back, my household is fine, and we’ve been all laying low over here due to…well…you all know why. God knows how long my work will continue, we’ve been pretty busy throughout all of this, but I’ve been looking at all of this a day at a time since it all began.
Anyway, we’re back…and our path towards the end of the world is progressing once again. Which definitely feels more than a little weird with what all has been happening…
…but we won’t let a little thing like that stop us, will we?
All the best to you all, stay safe, and thanks for putting up with this rotten, rambling little story 😉
Glad you are back up and running (while maintaining appropriate social distancing…)
The world is indeed in a weird place, so is reality though thankfully not quite so rapidly as on Starfall.
Glad you’re back and not a victim of COVID19.
Welcome Back!
Welcome back. You had a lot of people worried about you.
Yeah, flu is no joke…especially when you have the real one…not some jumped up common cold thing.
There was a point that for about three days, I couldn’t even laugh without doubling over in pain from how much I had sneezed, coughed and blown my nose.
+1
Hurrah! Glad to see you’re feeling better. “Captain Trips” is a new one on me, but as I’ve been telling folks here for the past two weeks: other ailments didn’t simply go away just because the Kung Flu got super popular all of a sudden. I’ve got people crossing themselves around me because it’s now allergy season 😛
Have we met Marcus before? It’s hard to keep track in a cast of thousands 🙂
Magnus Chandler was the CEO of a company that did a crash development of a shielded satellite that could survive the orbital junkstorm and provide quick communication between the continents (Ainm Baile and Starfall — which are practically on opposite sides of the world, IIRC). Chandler was last seen on Day 1 of the Month of Cold Winds, 6563 (#2085/2011-08-24), meeting with several Taoiseachs to see if they would keep his company afloat — he’d bankrupted the company getting the satellite built and shielded. He and his entire company were killed about 3 months later, in the Month of New Leaves, 6564 (#3516/2017-04-03). Presumably Dehane was the perpetrator.
Appreciated.
Captain Trips is a Stephen King reference….just one of the many names for the Superflu in ‘The Stand’
welcome back to the land of the healty
and yea the plot come’s close to real life now with cronos release to be happening soon
Yay! Back with a plot twist no less!!
Very glad to know you are OK.
90% is always a time to be careful. You are at 100% ut you want to be and try to convince yourself you are and try to act like it.
At least I do, if I’m not careful. 🙂
Welcome back!
A slightly belated but no less heartfelt welcome back.
I stopped checking up on your site for a while because with one thing and another I’m having a few anxiety issues right now and seeing that “I’m sick, don’t know when I’ll be back” page every day didn’t help.
Glad to see you made it.
Glad that you’ve recovered from your flu bug.
That said, it certainly looks like Chandler pulled a fast one over Dehane.
