While things are getting better a lot of things are still a trainwreck on my end.
While my cat has responded to the thyroid medication, she can’t take it as a pill which is the prime reason for all of her side effects (including being vomity as all hell)
So the mighty 15 year old furball is going to be getting a topical gel in her ears, and is on anti-nausea medication and a reduced dose of the pills until she can get on the gel.
That’s one thing that’s getting better…on the other hand, the day after I posted my message about things going on pause, an elderly family member banged themselves up in a fall and is still recovering.
So we are still in wait and see mode over here. When we know more, you’ll know more. 🙁
Oh wow, many reveals here; “Adah the Walker” … wow!
Nina knows LOTS about Kobalt that we’ve only been guessing about. So, Kobalt was designed to build super-soldiers 😉 That was something that folks were only guessing about.
My condolences. I hope you got the version that lets you turn off automatic updates; Microsoft takes over your system for updates any time it wants. Windows 8 and 10 are the best things Microsoft ever did for the Linux world.
I have no idea how or why people have so damn much trouble with W10.
Seriously, I’ve been running it since you could get it for free, and it’s been awesome here…even with the stress I put on my system.
Now what was a pain for me was going to bigger hard drives on 7. I had to go over from mbr partitioning to the gpt format since I ended up going from 1TB to 3TB drives.
TBH, I am finishing my 3rd machine. The Titan tower I bought last year ran out of space on the 275GB boot drive and I went to a 500GB SSD. Cloning the original drive was problematic. On the Render box, not having Win Server 2012 R2 drivers for NVIDIA cards was a huge set back. I had to install Win10 there and re-plan my cluster architecture.
Yes, I love Win10Pro. Both workstations are using ASROCK Extreme4 motherboards with i7-7700K CPUs. Going from WinServer 2012R2 back to Win10 Pro FUBARed my 12TB RAID5 array.
I’ve learned everything I never wanted to learn about Win10+IntelRST storage management 😉
In Windows 10 Enterprise edition, you can turn it off. If updates MUST be done in a controlled manner, get Enterprise and turn auto-update off. Otherwise, the Dark Lord reaches out from Redmond and touches you at any time without regard to what you may be doing, what essential services are running (and will be turned off during the updates, and sometimes won’t be turned on again afterward). But that’s a concern for those running Windows on servers.
If you don’t have Enterprise, there is a trick where you tell Windows not to update on a metered connection, and then lie to Windows and tell it your connection to the internet is metered. It will still whine at you a lot.
Mind you, you cannot get away with NEVER updating Windows. But it is better if you do it on your schedule rather than having your work interrupted without notice.
BTW I am not a sysadmin, but I deal closely with one.
True but we really don’t know what that means. Is it that many of her abilities are inherent to her rather than “added on” via Kobalt?
Dumuzi’s protégés are directly modified by Dumuzi and therefore their abilities are inherent, or native to them. They also don’t get some of the benefits of a Kobalt infection and may even be immune to Kobalt. OTOH, Kobalt appears to be a more dynamic system. The down-side, what happens if their Kobalt nanites get disabled, which isn’t an issue with inherent abilities.
Yes, Adâh is still a complete mystery. She is smart and physically robust and that’s about all we know. Personality-wise, Adâh is a sweetheart and seamlessly fits in with Miko’s family.
Now all they have to do is find her and get her out.

PS: On my Nth iteration of Win10 install 🙁
