Due to family medical issues, Requiem is on indefinite hiatus.
An elderly family member of ours took a bad fall on Labor Day night, and we’ve been dealing with the aftermath ever since. Hopefully, things will get sorted out, but as of right now, doing a daily comic is not something my schedule can allow.
Sorry to have this happen, but as everyone knows, real life comes first….and at least we don’t have too many running storylines on the backburner.
Thorondor “Ian” Caladharas is the 18 year old heir to one of the first of the Merchant Houses. An intelligent, independent teenager; Ian has a tendency towards irreverence and and frustration. In all honesty, he doesn’t care what his grandfather says he is heir to, he just wants to have a normal life. Or at least as normal a one as possible. (As my skills improved I made some revamps to this characters appearance to reflect aging and such as well. The top picture is how he is currently modeled. )
She didn’t recognize Ishara when she saw her three rescuers, but then she’s got a lot to pay attention to right now. Mostly the overgrown ruins of her house, that (for her) was burning just a few hours ago. But I’m thinking that she knew “the Dragon Lady” by reputation, not personally.
She’s actually handling this well. Take charge and find out who these people are and what they want with her.
I believe that Nina recognized Ishy right off, why she made the “this century” comment. The game has been just ratchetted up by about three levels. Note that she is not even trying any amateur BS on them.
I was thinking about this all morning, and I was at a loss why she would open the conversation by saying she’s been around a long time (and, since the Dweller didn’t tell them who they were rescuing, imagining a couple of jaws dropping open off-camera). I think you may be right about her recognizing Ishara. But we have to wait until Monday (at least) to find out…
She’s gone from doomed to saved in a veritable instant. I suspect shock will keep her occupied for a while – and give her time to gather information about her rescuers. It’ll be nice to know what use the Dweller has for her.
With her life-time, she is probably more immune to that sort of shock than Jazz is. She really *is* an Ancient, one of the original Kurshid; about ten times Jazz’ age. Likely, not broke either.
Change that from three levels to three orders of magnitude. She never had Ishy’s memory issues and was active until only 11 years ago. Nina is a potentially major player; like an old and sweaty stick of dynamite.
Unlike Jazz, who is more like Julia’s great grandma, Nina has nowhere near a similarly amenable track-record. Her main reference is the Dweller’s recommendation.
She has to recognize Ishara but that may not be a comfort to her.
