To be fair, it’s only the vicinity of their planet that’s out to get them. Also, it’s not out to get them specifically, so much as it’s attempting to correct an error. It just so happens that the correction will end most if not all life on the planet. So, no pressure.

If you can’t get off the planet, then it might as well be the whole universe out to get you, even if it’s only your planet.
