However, cleaned up right, it is a very nice house. They went overboard with the rebar because they were still learning at the time. As a result, there is very little earthquake damage and that *is* earthquake country, the heart of it in fact. Rigid structures generally don’t do well there.

The first thing I would do is to paint the raw concrete.
You’ve actually seen it? How long ago was it? How much do you remember of the condition of it then?
I wouldn’t just paint the interior, I’d mud the walls smooth first. When it was first built, cast concrete was new. Now, it’s passé. Not only passé but butt-ugly. The existing texture in the walls are the impressions from the planks that made up the forms. One or two feature walls like that might be acceptable but overwhelming people on all surfaces with it isn’t. Note that even the ceilings have that same texture.
