Due to family medical issues, Requiem is on indefinite hiatus.
An elderly family member of ours took a bad fall on Labor Day night, and we’ve been dealing with the aftermath ever since. Hopefully, things will get sorted out, but as of right now, doing a daily comic is not something my schedule can allow.
Sorry to have this happen, but as everyone knows, real life comes first….and at least we don’t have too many running storylines on the backburner.
I’ve been digging in the archives trying to understand the geography. If this page from 2006 is still canon [[ http://requiem.spiderforest.com/?comic=2006-01-10-2 ]], the Maris Islands are *much* more than a motorboat ride from the Keep. So the ‘teleport or boat’ question between Ian and Adah was about choosing whether to teleport directly to the tower or to teleport to the islands and boat across, right?
Yes, Teleport or Boat is referring to exactly what you’re thinking of.
Oh, and everything is ‘canon’. You’re never going to have to worry about a chunk of the story suddenly being declared non-canon, I absolutely hate that shit π If it’s written, it’s canon or it doesn’t get written in the first place (with the exception of occasional typos of course π )
Thank you for finding that comic. 10K miles east of Erech. Assuming a Terra-sized world (reasonable, the Mariner and company apparently didn’t notice any changes, like gravity, until the storm lifted and the Moon was different), the circumference is not quite 25K miles. So that puts Erech a whole lot nearer Starfall than to Ainm Baile, the continent that Erech is on. Right?
I don’t have time to hunt the page reference today, but I believe there’s a monologue where someone (Dana? Ian?) describes the towers as evenly spaced around the planet: four around the middle and one at each pole. That would make a planet 40,000 miles around.
WHat I need to do is completely redo the map for this world.
Problem is, the original map work files were done on a program that hasn’t had any active development since 2015…and would need to be completely redone on a new program. I have the time currently, which means I may have a new project in the next week…especially since our October break is coming here in a few days π
I found the link I think you’re looking for. The comic is #60/2004-09-28, and it’s a page from the Encyclopdia of Selonian Architecture, giving some details about the Clocktower of Erech. http://requiem.spiderforest.com/?comic=2004-09-28
The Clocktowers are ten miles high, anchored five miles deep, and are one square mile at the base. The article states that there are six towers but says nothing about their spacing. I remember something about the spacing but it’s someplace else, haven’t found it yet.

Got a bad feeling about that sentiment.
