Because once various authorities got past the initial outrage of a private mercenary company having nukes, the next question would be “… where did you get those, and who did you take them from?” and there would be a lot /more/ shouting.

Nukes being “Nukes” someone should *know* where they got them from because they’re short 10 suitcase nukes. Nukes are one of those things nuclear nations take very, very seriously. Which is why the girls have never been able to get rid of them.

1kt yield tells me they are U235 nukes not plutonium. Plutonium doesn’t shrink well.
They could still need re-enriching depending on how long it’s been.

Hmmm…. once the populations around the towers have been wiped out by covid-19…uhh, Kronos, Ian and Co. could use the nukes on the towers to give the next round of civilization a better chance.

I suspect they’d have to set them off inside near the centers given the strength of the structures holding up immense towers. And do it undetected.

Ian, Ariana, and Ishara can teleport and be invisible/unnoticeable. The tower’s first warning would be the bright flash.

Though maybe the safe thing to do is figure out the gate and go start another planet. Leave Dehane behind to evaporate as local space-time collapses. But alas the gate probably goes to Prometran’s colony of Kurshids, so the first order of business would be for the Nin, Ishara, and Adah to wipe ’em out. Again.
