Due to family medical issues, Requiem is on indefinite hiatus.
An elderly family member of ours took a bad fall on Labor Day night, and we’ve been dealing with the aftermath ever since. Hopefully, things will get sorted out, but as of right now, doing a daily comic is not something my schedule can allow.
Sorry to have this happen, but as everyone knows, real life comes first….and at least we don’t have too many running storylines on the backburner.
Thorondor “Ian” Caladharas is the 18 year old heir to one of the first of the Merchant Houses. An intelligent, independent teenager; Ian has a tendency towards irreverence and and frustration. In all honesty, he doesn’t care what his grandfather says he is heir to, he just wants to have a normal life. Or at least as normal a one as possible. (As my skills improved I made some revamps to this characters appearance to reflect aging and such as well. The top picture is how he is currently modeled. )
The Dweller. Prophet. Statistician. Sometimes madman. It is unclear, even to himself, whether he is seeing the future or calculating probabilities better than the fastest computer in existence. Needless to say, The Dweller knows things, often before they happen.
Dehane has a huge surprise coming
1: Every Wells Hotel will become a center of civilization survivors
2: Caladharas keep will survive
3: Maris Islands will survive
4: The “Crossing” folks will continue
5: Not to mention the interstellar colony

The remaining mystery is: Why is Dehane doing this.
Perhaps the question is, why is Dehane doing this AGAIN?
Remember when Adâh’s recording was playing for Etain, Nina (Nin-Banda), and Raya (Amara-Sin)? Adâh spoke of a person she saw, who had grey, cloudy, corpse eyes, and looked like his heart’s desire had finally been given him. The thought, that everybody in the world was about to die, was sheer joy to him (#4153/2019-11-22).
I have a couple of speculations about his reasons.
Some people enjoy killing; some become addicted to it. Dehane has been at this so long, he may need to kill not just everyone in the world, but kill the world itself, to get his high. There are hints in the comic that the Upload Event damaged reality; perhaps hitting it like that again will destroy it.
This is weaker, based on nothing in his behavior but rather on his age: perhaps Dehane wants to die, and cannot. If that be the case, perhaps he hopes that ending reality will also end him.
But I have speculated about where this story is going several times (and been wrong several times). We will just have to wait and see what plays out.
1. Gage and the Towers – they still fit into all this. 2. Ian will have the Bellisarius immunity. I’m guessing that at least some of the immortals are also immune. 3. Dehane wants the world to be emptied of people to cancel the uploads? Gain control of the Towers?
