Lot of things happened in the last couple years, didn’t it?
Part 1 of this book started over two years ago now, and I didn’t think that it would go on this long. But life, and fiction have a funny way of surprising you. At any rate, we’re into ‘Palatine’ tomorrow, and it opens up a couple of weeks after Jazz and Julia are on a Maris Island Tennis Court.
First week or so of October we’ll be taking our annual vacation week…more on that as we get close to it.
Glad you’re all still here…and glad you’re all still reading 🙂
Thorongil Caladharas was last seen seven months and a week ago, comic time (Day 21, Month of Falling Leaves, 6563), while the ships were being scoured of anything made of iron. The plague hit Starfall five months ago, early in the Month of Cold Winds, 6563, according to Adah Wynant’s recollection (and assuming my date arithmetic is correct). If the refit took less than two months, then the Wayfarer fleet may have set sail before the plague hit.
I think they did set sail. The news ticker includes an item about a scrap of paper found in Thorongil Caladharas’s otherwise-empty quarters on Starfall. But I don’t know how this news made it out of Starfall.
Captain Mary Donovan said the crossing from Starfall to the other continent (Ainm Baile?) has been done in two months. Assume the fleet set sail just before the plague hit, add two months for the journey, and another month for unforeseen difficulties. and Thorongil Caladharas should have made landfall in the Month of First Sowing — two months ago, now. He’s overdue.
And I won’t be giving any spoilers on the matter, either.

In any case, he’s out of the way. And, perhaps, happier than he’s been in centuries. That scrap of poetry found in his empty quarters on Starfall, says he really loves the sea.
And a perfect disguise above…”
Thought about that one, decided it was just too obvious 😉
It probably just means that I am insane 😉
The craziest thing is that there is another ‘story that ate my life’ coming after Requiem finally concludes.
‘Valediction’ has been in the works at least as long as Requiem has…and will have some of the same cast in it. The ones who survive the end of Requiem, that is.
Yes, thank you for keeping at it all this time.
You’re welcome.
But in all seriousness, a lot of people do die at the end of this. Including a number of major characters.
To the lonely sea and sky…’
I left my knicks and socks there.
I wonder if they’re dry… ?
