Ruins, Rubble…and A Handful of Dust, Part 16

Ian Caladharas

Thorondor “Ian” Caladharas is the 18 year old heir to one of the first of the Merchant Houses. An intelligent, independent teenager; Ian has a tendency towards irreverence and and frustration. In all honesty, he doesn’t care what his grandfather says he is heir to, he just wants to have a normal life. Or at least as normal a one as possible. (As my skills improved I made some revamps to this characters appearance to reflect aging and such as well. The top picture is how he is currently modeled. )

Yes, she’s the developer of Kobalt. But I also think that she’s talking about the gates at the Temple.

I begin to suspect that the Meskalamdug family is on the other side of a portal. Nina may be a true alien from the days when portals were still active.

This also implies that she understands the portal technology.

And you are so far off it’s actually laughable.

From other references, portal tech was the one thing that the religious castes of the Old World hung onto. Nina’s Kobalt may have been her attempt to break that monopoly. It would be interesting to see her reaction to the existence of the Temple.

This also explains so much else, like the Directors, of which, I suspect Dehane/Tobalkin is one. Or, at least, a High Priest of the old religious caste. I always wondered about his motive for world destruction and this explains them as well.

Awesome reveal James, this will keep us spinning in speculation for ages 😉 kudos to you.

She may have been the general manager of the project but according to Enke it was Aya who developed the nanotech key.

Ever think that Aya may have overestimated her own importance and skillset?

I think they all did. Hubris is an infectious, addictive and often lethal condition.

It’s the towers. Everything keeps coming back to the towers.

Kobalt was a method of controlling large numbers of soldiers that were hard to kill. If Kobalt is a key to a door/portal, it means your troops are highly mobile – a generals dream as long as the doorway still works.
