Adapt…and Overcome, Part 6
I want to say, for the record, that this comic has been one of the biggest pains in my ass in my entire comic-ing life.
Numerous software crashes, a USB mouse driver crash, a Windows lockup, and a massive Fireworks freakout that required me to delete an entire directory (plus assorted files) to get things fixed and running again.
Just freak, crazy, bullshit *sigh* And all for a damn transitional page, too. 🙁
Orphaned software is why I am currently looking for graphics editing S/W. I thought of Photoshop but they are going down the same subscription model path as Microsoft, who has just orphaned Office 2007 Premium (I do not like the Office 360 license model; I am allergic to being held hostage in any given month they [the vendor] chose and may go full-on Open Office.)
Using orphaned software works for a while, until it crashes or gets hacked. Without a maintainer, you are screwed. If you are the maintainer then you have time for nothing else.
PS. I was a Paintshop Pro user 😉 and may be forced to move to GIMP and its hideous UI.
What is it with kids that like to redefine things until they are no longer usable? The older UI models were perfectly fine. It’s like when Java redefined O-O into totally useless crippled crap (I was at OOPSLA 87 and am still a C++ programmer).
Consider my age and what I consider a kid 😉
Sorry, rant over.
Wouldn’t have known it, the page looks fine.
A USB mouse driver? Wow.
Yeah. My mouse is a 4 year old Roccat KONE XTD

About once every 6-9 months under Windows 10, it loses connection to the computer. It never happened under 7 at all. It’s simple to fix, just unplug/replug…but last night it chose to do this when everything else was going wrong.
Other than that, it’s perfect. Works great, fits my hand well, even lights up 🙂
But every once in a while, it gets squirrely
