Bringing House Mebhe to the Maris Islands undoes the “House” part of the prophecy; the “Heir” part had already failed when Belisarius failed to recognise Ian as the proper House Belisarius heir. The local universe may yet be saved; they just need to purge the local quantum computer of those excess 6.5 billion souls. or a substantial portion thereof.

    Giving away the meta-plot 😉
Calliel’s tertiary backup plan is still in place and Ian’s plan to infect everyone with Cobalt actually plays into it.

Since it was posted in 2006, that’s hardly a spoiler 😉

I can’t find the comic that referenced it on a quick search, but wasn’t there another House besides Mebhe that was based at Amon-Lanc, and completely wiped out? Something I seem to remember sticking from my last archive dive a few months back, though I’m not 100% certain on it…

…and moments after I say I couldn’t find it, I remember who said it and what I need to search under…

Sounds like Miko has a long list of reasons why she’s not happy with the Old Guard.

It is also a good-ting that Target talked him off the front lines. The Olde Gard might not have lived through it otherwise 😉

The problem with dealing with intelligence types is you don’t ever get them all and “wiping the board clean” is temporary at best. The real trick is to redirect them in another direction.
