Due to family medical issues, Requiem is on indefinite hiatus.
An elderly family member of ours took a bad fall on Labor Day night, and we’ve been dealing with the aftermath ever since. Hopefully, things will get sorted out, but as of right now, doing a daily comic is not something my schedule can allow.
Sorry to have this happen, but as everyone knows, real life comes first….and at least we don’t have too many running storylines on the backburner.
Yes, by all means take it easy and tend to the injury. Having been where you, take a week longer than you think you need.
There are exercises you can do, but I’d rather you discuss that with your doctor.
What you can do while resting is to review you computer area and make sure that your back and neck are straight while working. If not, perhaps you can fix this by changing a chair, adjusting monitor height event if means getting a different monitor stand, getting a copy holder, etc.
I’ve been following your saga daily for over ten years now. A bit of time, a week or six, to take care of yourself, is the only logical course. I appreciate the hard work already that you have put in over the years, the intricate world building, and the occasional sexy bits. Get well soon!
Regarding trackballs; I’m getting two of those Kensingtons and I will let you know.
Sensitivity is basically a configuration issue. I have always found trackballs to be the most accurate but lousy for gaming.
However, Accuracy, Speed, Ergonomics; pick two.
You use your whole arm with mice but only your finger-tips with trackballs. However, both can be designed badly.
As much as I would like the comic back, I have the exact same problem. When you think you are good to go, wait a week to back to work to make sure everything is good and work up to your old workload. Otherwise you will re-injure yourself in short order creating a chronic problem that eventually will need surgery to fix like me.
As of right now, I have been improving…but I am taking it very carefully right now. The numbness and the constant pain is pretty much gone (although I do get some twinges), but right now the rest of my back and shoulders hurts like hell because of the stress of the pinched nerve.
next week is vacation time for me, and after that we’ll see how things stand. I’m hoping to get my feet wet again the week after next, but we’ll take it a day at a time.
No good pushing it.

Good luck and get well.
