Due to family medical issues, Requiem is on indefinite hiatus.
An elderly family member of ours took a bad fall on Labor Day night, and we’ve been dealing with the aftermath ever since. Hopefully, things will get sorted out, but as of right now, doing a daily comic is not something my schedule can allow.
Sorry to have this happen, but as everyone knows, real life comes first….and at least we don’t have too many running storylines on the backburner.
Amena Caladharas. Born 6519. Amena (which means “honest woman” in gaelic), is the daughter of Thorongil Caladharas. She was killed back during the first House War in the year 6547. She was 28 years old when she became pregnant with her only child Thorondor Ian Caladharas, and died due to injuries sustained in the Sombra Bombing when Ian was a month old.
Thorondor “Ian” Caladharas is the 18 year old heir to one of the first of the Merchant Houses. An intelligent, independent teenager; Ian has a tendency towards irreverence and and frustration. In all honesty, he doesn’t care what his grandfather says he is heir to, he just wants to have a normal life. Or at least as normal a one as possible. (As my skills improved I made some revamps to this characters appearance to reflect aging and such as well. The top picture is how he is currently modeled. )
Laura McAllen is former archivist for House Caladharas and is now a university professor, and the mother of Dana McAllen. She is also a long time explorer…and Julia Well’s fifth grade teacher.
Jessica Tindal is the new appointed head of House Tindal. Jessica is 33 years old and spent a number of years as a professional musician (Bard) before being chosen for leadership.

I`m sorry, I keep nagging – I just can`t help it.
I have to admit I liked Jessica better before her reconstruction:
She was fairly pretty, without looking youngish, more ageless, I could imagine her as being in her late fifties/middle sixties, someone who has a lot of experience, can stand up to people and probably raised some children (at least as a caring aunt) – a good companion for the mariner. Now she looks too young to me and too pretty, those doctors took away her personality…
Sorry, some will always criticize…
I understand the criticism. But now she is finally the way I always pictured her in my head. The problem was that she was supposed to be young. Not ageless. Mid to late twenties at the latest.
Now I can finally look at her without rage. I can finally look at her and not have the only thing in my head be how badly I screwed up. I’m not someone who can just let things like that go. It eats at me more than a little bit.
Wow, I never read the cast page, so I didn´t know her age.
So young and so much responsibility?
What´s wrong with these people?
Is running a House a job for a trainee, do the elders retreat to only advise?
Is it looked upon as something trivial?
Or are all older ones in the families dead/wounded/traumatized?
Sorry, I apologize in advance if that`s explained somewhere and I missed it – I just can`t believe it.
I´m glad she´s now the way you pictured her. 🙂
Though I still think the way she acts fits someone older better, but on the other hand: one has to be quite young to handle so much in such a short time without loosing track, ones marbles, self-conscious, feeling of security or whatever else…
And maybe she just had to grow up early.
But she fell for the mariner – why? It can´t have been his power or riches, she had those herself, so his character. How did he impress her?
Or was he the father she never had? She seems too strong for that explanation.
So maybe he impressed her with being so different to all other people she had known so far?
And of course it can always have been love on first sight, but I doubt it.
Sorry, this just intrigues me very much.
Ah, I re-read the Cast page. I had forgotten she was only 33. With that in mind, the re-design does fit well. Like Renra, I had always thought of her in mid-forties or so.
