Due to family medical issues, Requiem is on indefinite hiatus.
An elderly family member of ours took a bad fall on Labor Day night, and we’ve been dealing with the aftermath ever since. Hopefully, things will get sorted out, but as of right now, doing a daily comic is not something my schedule can allow.
Sorry to have this happen, but as everyone knows, real life comes first….and at least we don’t have too many running storylines on the backburner.
Amena Caladharas. Born 6519. Amena (which means “honest woman” in gaelic), is the daughter of Thorongil Caladharas. She was killed back during the first House War in the year 6547. She was 28 years old when she became pregnant with her only child Thorondor Ian Caladharas, and died due to injuries sustained in the Sombra Bombing when Ian was a month old.
Thorondor “Ian” Caladharas is the 18 year old heir to one of the first of the Merchant Houses. An intelligent, independent teenager; Ian has a tendency towards irreverence and and frustration. In all honesty, he doesn’t care what his grandfather says he is heir to, he just wants to have a normal life. Or at least as normal a one as possible. (As my skills improved I made some revamps to this characters appearance to reflect aging and such as well. The top picture is how he is currently modeled. )
Just imagine how much more awkward and surreal this would’ve gotten if the Amena that gave birth to Ian hadn’t died in that bombing when Ian was still too young to have solid memories of her…
Love today’s movement in the story… but what’s with the shadow table in the first panel? You can see the door through the table on the upper right end of the picture.
It’s the reflection of the door on the surface of the bar. I did the reflection effect once before when Ian first teleported a bullet into his hand. http://requiem.spiderforest.com/?p=5805 I did it from a different angle with different lighting then.
I like that there’s a table between them. I also appreciate him telling her, however unintentionally, that he’s in charge. He’s evidently picked up a few instinctive leadership skills over the course of his adventures.
“picked up” – Try being trained for this job since birth. I think the old man had it in mind all along for Ian to take over eventually. BTW, we haven’t heard from him in quite a while. I know that old sailing boat trip takes a while but would love to have a cut over to what is happening to him right now. Plus there is the new communication sattelites, eventually, they will make contact.
