Due to family medical issues, Requiem is on indefinite hiatus.
An elderly family member of ours took a bad fall on Labor Day night, and we’ve been dealing with the aftermath ever since. Hopefully, things will get sorted out, but as of right now, doing a daily comic is not something my schedule can allow.
Sorry to have this happen, but as everyone knows, real life comes first….and at least we don’t have too many running storylines on the backburner.
I had originally planned on having him make it back in time for Requiems epilogue. Now, I’m pretty much planning on just killing the fucker off so people quit asking about him.
Don’t do that. I think I am the main one asking. I understand that he was mainly to set up the young gun taking over but I was taken with his character and keep thinking that considering his longevity, he has know some of what is going on already. There also unanswered questions with him, like why has he lived so long? I was always fan of Heinlein’s Lazarus Long and see a similiarity between the two characters. I will shut up about him now and wait until the epilogue.
If that was what you wanted to know, why didn’t you just ask? It never was an unanswered question. Start here http://requiem.spiderforest.com/?p=2117 It explains Caladharas long-life. I did them back in November of 2006.
And oh god Lazarus Long If I would have had any idea that anyone would see any similarity between the Mariner and Long, I would have axed the Mariner from the comic before it even began.
And I actually like some of the stuff with him in it. I liked Methuselahs Children, and I even liked parts of Time Enough for Love as well. It just seemed that Long stopped being a character after Time, and just too much of an authors insert.
My pictures of immortality mainly come from other sources which include a a couple of great vampire novels “Those Who Hunt The Night” and “Empire of Fear”
No.

Now, that’s funny!
Plus, people asking about ‘throw-away’ characters is really something of a compliment. It means that you’re a good story-teller
