Due to family medical issues, Requiem is on indefinite hiatus.
An elderly family member of ours took a bad fall on Labor Day night, and we’ve been dealing with the aftermath ever since. Hopefully, things will get sorted out, but as of right now, doing a daily comic is not something my schedule can allow.
Sorry to have this happen, but as everyone knows, real life comes first….and at least we don’t have too many running storylines on the backburner.
*Spoiler* Nope. There isn’t anything in the programming of it to ‘correct’ sexual orientation. Though, if you did have a brain aneurysm waiting to pop, it would fix that.
Precisely. How does it define “wrong”? For instance, I take medication, Effexor, to help with social anxiety and depression. If something were to permanently tweak my brain chemistry so I didn’t have to, I could get behind that.
But it would still change who I am. I can imagine other “wrongs” that, “righted”, might change people for bad as well as good.
It would tweak brain chemistry if needed, it would also heal any currently broken bones if they were there, not too mention any instances of uncontrolled cellular growth.
Other effects are not always predictable. Hell, Ian went through a rapid growth spurt of about 6 inches in height within two weeks time.
That underlies the problem with bio-nanotech and with the inherent design bias of the engineers and scientists behind the technology. iow, ‘normal’ is a relative and subjective state of mind. What they think is ‘normal’ won’t match your ideas of what is ‘normal.’ (Think: ‘Happy, little mind-controlled bio-robots,’ here.)
Regardless of what many engineers and scientists might claim to the contrary, a lifetime of experience and philosophy goes into each item or product they design and produce. (see also: confirmation bias, ‘echo chambers,’ etc.)
In my particular case, returning me to my original condition would mean heart surgery – again. In my case the cure could be worse than the disease. Of course, I don’t have a broken neck with potential paralysis. Pick your lesser evil and go with it.
Any defects that were detected in the body (like something that caused you to need heart surgery) would be ‘corrected’ i.e. you would’ve never need it in the first place.
It would also correct cases of intellectual disability as well. The whole programming behind Cobalt was for it to optimize the person who would be using it, so they could use it at at least it’s nominal potential.
I wish I did. Jai has been sick with stuff for a while, plus getting buried with a nasty work schedule. Right now, there are approximately 5-6 comics in the pipeline for it that are about 85-90% done, they just need to be polished up and went with. When that’ll happen, I wish I knew. 🙁

Because it’s coming.
