Eh? Whose funeral is this?
@Slamlander, I expect it’s her fathers’ – and possibly the officer that was with him when they were ambushed.
Watching Westminster last night brought up a question – not a good one, but one that’s been bugging me all day. If humaniforms can be Kurshid, what about animals? Especially dogs. Watching that Sussex Spaniel win was like watching an ageless Sophia Loren win Miss Universe. How about the Deep Dwellers? Just curious.
@Slamlander, Melinda’s father.
@Ken, You got it.
Yes, they can. One of the things I have been trying to track down is a god border collie texture for just such a purpose. A lot of it has to do with brain case capacity, but even more of it has to do with the potential that is already there. Dogs, and wolves are a definite. Some house cats (my house cat is plenty smart enough, especially after I saw her figure out how to operate a CD player) The big cats as well. Corvids as well. (They are tool users, have demonstrated higher reasoning skills, and have different dialects among themselves based on region and group)
The Deep Dwellers are an unknown quantity yet, though you may very well think of the talents that Grey has with being able to “hear the stone breathe” as as possible effect of long past exposure.
Not really connected to the current story arc but I found this today and it sent me thinking back to the cascade that Bellisarius tried to kick off in orbit.
I reckon we are only going to see more of this given the increasing number of countries that can put satellites in orbit.
And if they are military or intelligence ones I can’t see them happily sticking their locations on a central database for everybody to see.
@Count Thalim, I’ve been watching the whole satellite collision situation with great interest. From what they are saying today, even the Hubble may end up being threatened by this.
As for locations, I suspect that the amateur community may very well end up being the ones who figure out where everything (including the secret ones) are at.
@James Roden, Maybe. But I’m leaning more towards corporate interests being the ones to do it. Debris puts their investments at risk and money has always been Humanities prime driver.
Either way I reckon we’ll begin seeing the start of this within the next decade. Just when commercial space flight begins to take off. (If you’ll excuse my puns…)
Looks like there are a few sets of twins in the Erech guards, and maybe even a set of quads
