Due to family medical issues, Requiem is on indefinite hiatus.

An elderly family member of ours took a bad fall on Labor Day night, and we’ve been dealing with the aftermath ever since. Hopefully, things will get sorted out, but as of right now, doing a daily comic is not something my schedule can allow.

Sorry to have this happen, but as everyone knows, real life comes first….and at least we don’t have too many running storylines on the backburner.

The Coming of An Ancient, Part 3

Ishara

Ishara is one of the Ancients….and is the lady who assisted the Deep Scaled People against the Khurshid.

Ishara reminds me of my daughter, who is 25% Chinese, mucho malaysian, and the rest Dutch/German, with a Spaniard thrown in for laughs. As an infant, she had porclein white skin (not pink but opaque white) that acted like photopgraph paper. 10 Minutes of sun and she had an instant tan that was completly gone two days later.

(Too much whine, for tonight. L8r G8r.)

A couple of questions regarding the “change”. I noticed that some of the characters are physically altered after the change (Ian), but not all (Julia). Any particular reason (I’ll buy artistic license)? Given her modifications, will the change affect Theresa? What about those who are already long-lived?

    Thanks, Ken

That’s a point. Ian’s ‘grandfather’ could be an interesting issue. BTW, wasn’t he making it back on a sailboat? He should be getting there soon.

Artistic license isn’t involved, I’m afraid. The Eyeplague corrects what it perceives as flaws, and makes alterations according to it’s own agenda. Long lifers are effected, however the largely cybernetic are not (Quinlan is a yes, Ena while she does have boosted nerves and implanted blades in her arms is still mainly organic.

Infants in utero can’t be effected, and anyone who hasn’t reached puberty yet is unaffected as well. If the programming built into that particular version of the virus feels a change needs to be made for some reason, it makes it.

Oh, traits can be passed on to children if either parent has been through the Change themselves. (More on that later )

So I take it Cassandra would have Ariana’s gifts or other similar ones?

Re-reading this discussion I’ve been thinking:

Ian isn’t really related to his “grandfather” by blood so he won’t have the same long life?

He is related by blood. I just haven’t mentioned very much about his grandfathers romantic life.
