Off topic here but I am trying to get started with DAZ Studio, have the book Figures, Characters and Avatars. However any advice you would care to offer will be gratefully accepted. Bear in mind this is my first attempt to try creating anything other than written stories and poems so I really need basics.
The best place to really look for that is DAZ3d itself. I don’t use it at all, (with the exception of three comics I did for Requiem back when the River Crossing section was wrapping up). Renderosity is good too, plus they have a great freebie collection of stuff that’ll work in DAZ Studio (pretty much any Poser object is compatible with it, as well as any OBJ file, which can be imported in)
Poser materials that are procedural in nature (those that weren’t created with some kind of image file as the basis of the texture won’t work. Neither will Posers strand based hair (the default stuff that comes with Poser).
