Due to family medical issues, Requiem is on indefinite hiatus.
An elderly family member of ours took a bad fall on Labor Day night, and we’ve been dealing with the aftermath ever since. Hopefully, things will get sorted out, but as of right now, doing a daily comic is not something my schedule can allow.
Sorry to have this happen, but as everyone knows, real life comes first….and at least we don’t have too many running storylines on the backburner.
Thorondor “Ian” Caladharas is the 18 year old heir to one of the first of the Merchant Houses. An intelligent, independent teenager; Ian has a tendency towards irreverence and and frustration. In all honesty, he doesn’t care what his grandfather says he is heir to, he just wants to have a normal life. Or at least as normal a one as possible. (As my skills improved I made some revamps to this characters appearance to reflect aging and such as well. The top picture is how he is currently modeled. )
I seem to recall that during one of the early Dweller sequences (may be wrong, too lazy to search out the link) Julia was referred to as “the woman who would be running everything”. I’ve kind of been reminded of this during some of the leadup in the “Big Dance Number” sequence, about how she’s not looking forward to acting Taoiseach, and wondering if this is the point where we lose Ian.
Alternatively…
Nina Mesky / Nin-Banda described Cobalt as a key to a “Utility Fog” – http://requiem.spiderforest.com/?comic=2018-04-30 – which links in with Ian in panel 2 here. She was woken up “for a reason” apparently (strip before the one I linked to) which hasn’t been shown yet other than waking up at the same time as the reincarnated Dehane, so maybe she (with her perfect memory) will also be showing up?
Not to mention that didn’t the First Mariner start sailing through the Mist? His secrets within secrets within secrets could come back to bite… I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that he was secretly “infected” with Cobalt to begin with.
I’m almost certainly completely wrong but it’s fun to play games
If the key to working with the “fog” is Kobalt, Ian’s in trouble without a tower marker (double authentication). Speculation: the fog will block Ishara and Ian will be able to alter the ships course. Somehow.
Did his sight not show him the difference between crappy weather and The Mist?
How did the Dweller and Etain not see this coming?
Will Ian figure out quickly enough that The Mist messes with metals, then realize that he needs to rip off the fancy electronic safety suit. “You’re safer running around naked like hobbits in the Barrow Downs,” said Captain Bombadil.
