Gah. French or Gaelic seem weird to me, but their spelling rules make SENSE (once you learn them). Don’t have to memorize all the words. (German gives English a run for its money, though: every word has a gender, and you just have to memorize them all. Men are masculine, women are feminine, children are neuter. Wine and vodka are masculine, beer is neuter. Arm is masculine, hand is feminine, fingers are masculine. Und so weiter, zur Unendlichkeit.)
