Thought and Memory (My LJ)

The Cruxshadows (Probably my favorite band right now. I can’t think of any other group that consistantly pushes the envelope, and is as consistantly great as they are. In all honesty, I can’t think of a single chapter of “Requiem” that didn’t have their music going in the background somewhere. Grab some of their stuff (Itunes has a bunch of it if you want to go that route) and listen to it.

Digg, Slashdot, Neowin, and OSNews (Part of my daily tech news crawl…Thank god for RSS readers ;) In particular, the Sage RSS reader for Firefox.)

The Piri Reis Map (A lot of this had made it into the backstory of “Requiem” over the years ;)

Phoenicia.org (If you can’t figure out why this is here, you haven’t been reading)

The Ensign Trust ( More “Requiem” research and reference material)

Hodinkee: My love of old watches has been biting me pretty hard these days.  This is where I go to get my fix :)

Appearances and Guest Work:

Renderosity An interview we did for the Renderosity Art Community (which is also the home of “Tunnelrunners”)

Summer of Keenspace (Our first event participation. This one features a picture of our very own Jessica Tindal)

KeenSwim (One of the few events that we actually have a chance to participate in. You can find our entry here)

Requiem burns up so dang much time overall that we rarely get to contribute guest art to other comics at all. It was very nice though, when a friend of ours (Chelsea Gaither, of The Blue Skunk, which is linked below) put out the call for some guest art and something immediately popped into our head. At any rate, you can find the piece here

Built in Carrara 5, character design in Poser 6 and imported in. I think it came together quite well…and defintely demonstrates what I have jokingly referred to as our reflection fetish ;)

Thanks for having us :)

In addition, Requiem got mentioned in an article in the Indianapolis Star newspaper recently. To say that I am stoked is definitely an understatement :) You can catch up with the article here.

Our friends over at The Floating Lightbulb  Webcomic blog interviewed us as part of their Shotgun Interview series, the interview is readable right HERE The good folks at The Floating Lightbulb also run the Psychedelic Tree House, which has everything from master lists of every comic collective and portal, to the Museum of Webcomic logos.  Make sure you go there and check it out as well.

Phil Hofer of Frumph.net has been putting together a Women of Webcomics pinup series spotlighting a number of different artists/webcartoonists.  You can find it over at http://webcomicplanet.com/webcomic/pinups/garanos/.  My entry is right HERE

If you take a swing by there, you might find something from us there as well :)

Comic Links:

Gunnerkrigg Court (One of the best comics on the web. Flat out, no question about it. Great art, great story, great setting. IT. FUCKING. RULES. END. OF. STORY.)

Something Positive (Before S*P I didn’t even know that there were webcomics. This is the comic that got me hooked.)

Shadowgirls: Got hooked on this one a while back now, and I am liking it.  Make sure you’ve brushed up on your Lovecraft ;)

Metanoia (One of my favorites. It is part biblical allegory, dark fantasy, gothic crime novel and just all around damn good. Artistically it reminds me of a cross between James O’Barr and Geoff Darrow (specifically the artwork he did for “Hard Looks” and “Another Chance to Get it Right”) and is visually and emotionally stunning.) This is also the first comic that I ever did fan art for.

The Dreamland Chronicles (Another 3d webcomic…definitely different in tone than Requiem. Stunning work, and I have to give the creator props for also running this one as a daily for a long time. It was nice not to be the only daily one out there ;) )

Goats (I got into this comic right around the time of the Infinite Typewriters storyline and got myself hooked. Alternate universes, panties of potency, mayan death gods all make their way through this strip….and I have to say that Jon Rosenberg is a twisted genius.)

What it Takes: An excellent post-apocalyptic webcomic from the Mighty Kez.  Cool art, and a great heroine.  And yes, I did say heroine :)   It just started up, so you can get in on this one on the ground floor.

Penny and Aggie: I got hooked on this about four months ago now, and I am enjoying it a lot.
