Edgar Allen Poe. The Purloined Letter. Let’s all hide in plain sight.

No need to hide. Spend twenty or thirty years living in a society, building an identity and persona. Along the way, you become a mentor to others, implementing your narrative and plan openly through your unknowing ‘students,’ but with the use of extreme subtlety.

In such a manner, you never need to fight anything or anyone at any time…while other people fight, struggle, live and die according to the memes you’ve spread throughout their society.

Such a man could be living a poverty-stricken life, living in the wrong part of town in a flyover state…or he could be a bartender at a dive, a rancher, a truck driver or a janitor…or the local garbage collector…and no one would ever suspect of him of doing anything at all.

Spreading those memes in such a fashion, such a person becomes the purloined letter, with the caveat that no one ever suspects the ‘minister’ of any wrongdoing… iow, imagine if the purloined letter, while hiding in plain sight, is never found…because no one ever suspects that it exists in the first place.

All of which leads me to believe that certain characters in this story are not all that they appear to be on the surface.

…but I’m kinda paranoid, so take it for what it’s worth.
