  Perhaps she is just striving to be accurate. What most people would call “weird” would more correctly be called “unusual”. Walking a dog is not weird, eating an icecream cone is not weird, dressing as a clown is not weird depending on the circumstances. Most would call seeing a clown walk a dog while eating an icecream cone at 3am weird, I would just call it unusual.
