Due to family medical issues, Requiem is on indefinite hiatus.
An elderly family member of ours took a bad fall on Labor Day night, and we’ve been dealing with the aftermath ever since. Hopefully, things will get sorted out, but as of right now, doing a daily comic is not something my schedule can allow.
Sorry to have this happen, but as everyone knows, real life comes first….and at least we don’t have too many running storylines on the backburner.
Julia Wells, significant other of Ian Caladharas. Julia co runs the Wells Hotel in Erech’s Clocktower District. For those people who have rpg’d in this world: The Wells Hotel is now known as Cytheron’s. Julia and Ian tied the knot in the City of Greyrest in the Crossing Territories.
Etain is both right and wrong. If everything goes according to plan, via the “Happy Path”, she is 100% correct. However, the “Happy Path” almost never works. There is also, the unperceived wrong is still a wrong, and our crew likes to stay on the side of the angels. If things go FUBAR it is nice to know that they are still covered, legally.
Besides, Dehane is still out there. He could still pierce this mission and create a massive PR problem.
There is a question of time – they need to get their hands on the equipment as quickly as possible. I suspect that the House has enough money to make this legal one way or another – without any hurt feelings or grudges.
Sloppy thinking, Etain. The sort that can come back to bite you.
PROBLEM: Giving the ship back minus contents is suspicious and creates an unwanted document trail. It is sub-optimal to take it to a friendly port for unloading. The ideal case from a secrecy+legal perspective is leaving the ship wherever it is and Our Heroes salvage what they want (printer and any other useful goodies)
That said, they want the ship. It is a massively useful thing to have around. It’s fusion reactor is a power source, it can be refitted as mobile living quarters or even a command center. Or it can haul large loads of cargo hopefully under the radar. If they can (preferably legally) salvage the ship too, that’s a big plus.
What Etain is thinking is that they take the whole damn ship with everything on it and get it disappeared. With the satellites out, it wouldn’t be that hard to do.
In her eyes, if you are planning on the whole thing getting disappeared, and not reappearing until after the world has ended…thinking about the legal end of things is a waste of breath.
